Thembi Mathebula

Thembi Mathebula (she/her) is a dynamic artist, director, and advocate with a passion for storytelling, leadership, and social impact. She is currently pursuing her Honours Degree in Theatre and Performance at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, with a focus on Directing, Cultural Policy & Management, and research on spoken word as a performative and socio-political practice.

Recognized for academic excellence as a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, Thembi’s influence extends beyond the arts. She is a dedicated advocate for environmental sustainability, climate justice, and community development, and has held various leadership roles within the University of the Witwatersrand. In 2024, she was crowned Miss Earth South Africa 3rd Runner-Up (Miss Fire), amplifying her voice as a champion for causes that matter.
With creativity, leadership, and advocacy at the heart of her work, Thembi continues to contribute to the arts and to global conversations about social and environmental change.
